Clinton Apologizes For Bills SC Comments... sorta.
Thu Mar 13, 2008 at 01:17:37 AM PDT
Here's her apology, from the New York Times
WASHINGTON (AP) -- Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton did something Wednesday night that she almost never does. She apologized. And once she started, she didn't seem able to stop.
...
Her biggest apology came in response to a question about comments by her husband, Bill Clinton, after the South Carolina primary, which Obama won handily. Bill Clinton said Jesse Jackson also won South Carolina when he ran for president in 1984 and 1988, a comment many viewed as belittling Obama's success.
''I want to put that in context. You know I am sorry if anyone was offended. It was certainly not meant in any way to be offensive,'' Hillary Clinton said. ''We can be proud of both Jesse Jackson and Senator Obama.''
Obama can wrap up the Nomination on April 23rd.

Obama, with help from the members of the DNC, can wrap this thing up on April 23rd.
If it looks like this is going to be a long, divisive process, and I can certainly see it going in that direction, party leaders will have to consider all of their options. Here's one suggestion:
Use the super-delegates.
These super-delegates were created to make sure future nominating contests didn't disintegrate into party-busting brawls. If ever there was a time to bring in this stabilizing force and unify the party, this would be that time!

Why Ethiopia Is Right

Just a short comment on the war in the Horn.
I have posted this comment in the “Have Your Say” section of the BBC News website. The link to this is here. One must forgive the misspellings in my comment. The BBC’s website does not have automatic spellcheck, a system upon which I have become entirely reliant. The spelling errors have been corrected here, and a single editorial change has been made.
My comment was as follows:
The Question of Scalia's Recusal
Mon Mar 27, 2006 at 07:01:51 PM PDT
Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia, often the defender of the Administration in questions of Executive Power, has, during a question and answer period after a lecture, made statments that show that his mind is made up when it comes to detainees access to the civil court system. For him to sit in judgement in the upcoming Hamdan case and not recuse himself, would, in my opionion, be a grave breach of judicial etiquette. I so wish he wasn't on the bench.
The Roberts Dissent
Fri Mar 24, 2006 at 02:00:13 PM PDT
Here find my analysis of Chief Justice Roberts' dissent (his first) in the case of Georgia v. Randolph. The commentary below arrives a little late in the context of our infernal 24 hour news cycle, but I needed time to study both the Opinion and the Dissent before I could form an opinion. I have not yet read the Concurring Opinions of the Majority or the Dissent as of this posting, but I will be reviewing them as well and will most definitely have more to say.
Enjoy.
The Brzezinski Plan
Tue Mar 21, 2006 at 10:58:26 AM PDT
Here you'll find what I'm calling the "Brzezinski Plan" for the withdrawal from Iraq. Brzezinski was President Carter's National Securtiy Advisor. I have posted his points and my commentary here, but you can also go to my website www.anthonersblog.blogspot.com for more of my writings and the writings of my dear husband, Bryan Anthony.
