29 Democrats And Military Action Against Iran
Thu May 17, 2007 at 07:22:12 AM PDT
With all the emphasis on Reid/Feingold yesterday, one important vote in the House might have flown under the radar.
Yesterday a vote was taken on HR 1585, an amendment sponsored by Rep. Robert Andrews (D-NJ), that would have blocked funds authorized for the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan from being used for a military strike on Iran. That amendment went down to defeat with a vote of 202 for and 216 against. Twenty-nine Democrats opposed the measure, 6 Republicans supported it. Full details of the roll call vote can be found on the House web site.
Spay The Parents Of Bad Kids, Conservative Family Values In Action
Sat Sep 30, 2006 at 01:32:14 PM PDT
Somethings are hard to believe and here is one of them coming to you courtesy of Charleston City Councilman Larry Shirley. His solution to juvenile delinquency is a real good example of great Family Values in action. After the attempted robbery of a video store by children ages 14, 12 and 9, Councilman Shirley has offered an enlightened solution to FIX this problem.
And one of the things he says needs to be talked about is whether bad parents should be sterilized.
Now this is just a warm up for the rest of his statement. Follow me below the fold to find out more about how this great statesman's mind works.
8/19 DNC To Vote On Support For Lamont VS Lieberman Vote UPDATED
Thu Aug 17, 2006 at 04:44:57 PM PDT
This was posted on
FDL It is my understanding that this vote will be taken sometime tomorrow. Sorry that this will be very short but I think that it is important information to distribute and I don't want it lost in an Open Thread.
All of the state representatives (to the DNC) are meeting in Chicago ... and they are taking a Lieberman vote. If it's either overwhelming or unanimous that could be pretty hard hitting. I'm embarrassed to say that I know of this because our state committeeman spoke of it at a county Dem meeting last evening and was wondering if we (other states) should get involved - he was brought to his knees fairly rapidly and will now be voting against Lieberman at the meeting. We convinced him that it was a party issue not merely a state election issue.
Please contact contact your local DNC representative and let them know your feelings on the subject.
My Letter To The DSCC Regarding Contributions
Thu Aug 10, 2006 at 12:37:14 PM PDT
I am posting this letter dated August 9th in the hopes that our Congress people or their staff reads it and understands the ramifications of the actions taken by some of their colleagues when they publicly announce that they will ignore the Democratic voters

RE: Contributions To The DSCC
Dear DSCC Members:
Today Senator Schumer issued a statement that Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee (DSCC) fully supports Mr. Lamont's candidacy. Yet it seems that not all Democratic Senators are united in this decision. Al From also made a statement today indicating that Senator Tom Carper has said he will support Senator Lieberman in November. Senators Daniel K. Inouye, Mark Pryor, Ken Salazar have also previously indicated that they would support Joe Lieberman's Independent candidacy instead of the duly elected Democratic candidate.
Republicans - Tom Delay Thinks You All Are Stupid Hicks-Poll
Thu May 25, 2006 at 11:40:56 AM PDT
There has been a lot of discussion on this site and others about a video of Colbert's appearing on Tom Delay's Legal Defense Fund site.
Link This video is of Stephen Colbert's interview with "Outfoxed" director Robert Greenwald on the subject of Greenwald's new film "The Big Buy: Tom DeLay's Stolen Congress". According to the Defend Delay Web-Site, Colbert discredited Greenwald and his book.
The general consensus on the liberal blogs is that this Delay and his minions are too stupid to understand satire. While I do believe the Delay is stupid, I would like to offer another take on this subject. So follow me below the fold for an overview of some prior opinions and my rebuttal.
The GOP's Bankruptcy Of Ideas
Wed May 10, 2006 at 01:31:12 PM PDT
Harold Meyerson's Washington Post
Washington Post article has some insight's on Rove's 06 campaign game plan. This paragraph has a nice ring to it.
Karl Rove and his minions have plumb run out of issues to campaign on. They can't run on the war. They can't run on the economy, where the positive numbers on growth are offset by the largely stagnant numbers on median incomes and the public's growing dread of outsourcing. Immigration may play in various congressional districts, but it's too dicey an issue to nationalize. Even social conservatives may be growing weary of outlawing gay marriage every other November. Nobody's buying the ownership society. Competence? Ethics? You kidding?
So how is this limiting Rove's options for the 06 Campaign and what could it mean for the Democratic Party chances to obtain a majority? Follow me below the fold:
Preliminary Action Plan on NSA Spying Investigation
Thu Feb 16, 2006 at 07:49:27 PM PDT
As you may already know Mr. Roberts, Chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee, has indicated that "an agreement in principle" had been reached with the administration and no investigation (on the illegal NSA spying program) will be needed at this time. Words in brackets are mine.
