Daily Kos = People's Front of Judea

Thu Nov 04, 2004 at 03:33:16 PM PDT

Another election may be stolen and the front post on this site reads "sit down".

WTF?!

There are 93 thousand "spoiled" votes in Ohio that need to be counted.  People stood in the cold rain for 5-7 hours to vote, and we are busy talking about hypothetical situations in 2008.
SOMETHING IS HAPPENING, SOMETHING IS ACTUALLY HAPPENING!!!!

This is fucking discraceful

Markos, We have our MANDATE, NOW!!!!

http://www.dailykos.com/story/2004/11/4/15246/5202#132

Why in the hell isn't this front and center on the Daily Kos?  We have 93 thousand "spoiled" votes to count in Ohio!

What would be occuring if this were reversed?  The GOP would have their brownshirts out in mass and their lawyers would be conducting recounts as we speak.

If you don't fight to win, you lose.  It is that simple.

I swear, if we just bend over and let them do this to us AGAIN without a fight.  I give up.  I fucking give up.

2006, 2008?  Who cares.  We are the party of losers, and at the rate we are going, we always will be.

Open letter to Bush Supporters

Wed Nov 03, 2004 at 12:33:12 PM PDT

Dear Bush supporter,
This election was rather personal.  One of Bush's more controversial policies has life and death ramifications for someone close to me.
Please understand that I mean this from the bottom of my heart when I say this to you.
I hope you and your family suffer terribly because of Dubya's policies.  I hope that your days are filled with misery and heartache.  I wish upon you tears and pain more powerful than can be conveyed in words.  Your support of a soulless man, whose Macavelian ideological tunnel vision brings untold misery to many, is contemptuous and disgraceful.
You are a sub-human stain on the earth.  Fuck you very much.

I feel really really physically ill

Tue Nov 02, 2004 at 09:50:05 PM PDT

Please let this be a horrible dream.  I need a support group.

I'm goddamn serious.

I'm very close to throwing up.

Specific Operation Shame On You Request...

Sun Oct 10, 2004 at 08:05:53 AM PDT

The Columbus (Ohio) Dispatch will select its Presidential endorsement within the next week.  There is talk that The Dispatch may endorse a Democrat for the first time since Woodrow Wilson.  The editorial board is likely undergoing a heated debate this very moment.  We need to tip them in the right direction.  Beneath the fold I've included their 2000 endorsement for Bush.  Please fire off an email and remind them that Bush has failed to live up to every one of their expectations.  Please remember to be POLITE, we are trying to influence them, not make them embittered against our cause.

Letters to the editor can be sent to:  letters@dispatch.com

Senior Editor Joe Hallett can be reached at jhallett@dispatch.com

The Editorial writers are as follows:
Marry Ann Edwards = medwards@dispatch.com
Mary Morgan Edwards = mcedwards@dispatch.com
Shannon Gilchrist = sbeatty@dispatch.com
Phil Rudell = prudell@dispatch.com
Rick Woodruff = rwoodruf@dispatch.com

Woman's Obituary: Please Elect John Kerry

Sun Oct 03, 2004 at 12:25:16 PM PDT

Unfucking believable!

A wonderfully kind woman dies; as her last message to those she left behind, she asks that they work hard to elect Kerry.

This is the Rethuglacan response:

"It's too bad she won't be able to vote for Kerry, and hopefully on the day that Bush gets elected she'll burn in hell."

Bad News in Ohio...

Sun Oct 03, 2004 at 07:57:55 AM PDT

Bush pulls in front
The race in Ohio has been deadlocked from the start. But now, with 30 days until the election, the president has moved in front of John Kerry, the latest DISPATCH POLL finds.

A Dispatch from Central Ohio & take the poll

Sat Oct 02, 2004 at 08:25:39 AM PDT

Just as a public service to Kossacks who may be interested in this...
From Columbus' weekly wildly popular alternative paper

ENTER AT YOUR OWN RISK

No matter how many times you've voted, you're not ready for what you'll find on Election Day 2004

Back in the good old days of Ohio elections, a period historians call the 20th century, there wasn't much to casting your vote. A short wait in line, a little chat with the old-as-hell poll worker, a trip behind the magic curtain, and you were on your way.

Scholars can debate how much Florida's 2000 election debacle changed America. But there's no doubt it will change a lot of Ohioans' trips to the polls on Nov. 2.

You can't swing an unmarked absentee ballot without hitting someone hinting darkly that our Election Day will fall somewhere between complicated and disastrous. How? Let us count the ways.

Outside the polls you may notice more people than usual milling about. That's because a labor-union led effort is under way to put "election protection" monitors outside polling locations in Columbus and other Ohio cities.

Plus, international election monitors--that's right, Jimmy Carters from other countries, keeping an eye on us--are likely headed to Columbus.

But the observe-a-thon outside is nothing compared to what may be going on inside. It remains to be seen how special provisional ballots will be handled by poll workers; Ohio Democrats are suing Republican Secretary of State Ken Blackwell in federal court over his plans for handling them.

Add to the mix more than 135,000 newly registered Franklin County voters and the usual last-minute scramble to find enough poll workers.

Messy enough for you? No? OK, let's toss this in: The Bush and Kerry presidential campaigns, dusting off an obscure section of Ohio's election law, have told state election officials they plan to post designated "challengers" inside polling places.

Franklin County Democratic Party Chairman Bill Anthony, who also chairs the Franklin County Board of Elections, used the words "zoo" and "chaotic" to describe what may take place at the polls on Election Day.

Just to be safe, you might want to go get in line now.

Photo of the "banned bibles" mailer...

Sun Sep 26, 2004 at 09:47:59 AM PDT

Why hasn't the "banned bibles" mailer from the RNC gotten more play in the press?
These didn't come from a "shadowy 527" group but straight from the Rethuglacan party
Can you imagine the number of press cycles this controversy would eat up if it was the DNC that hatched a similarly disingenuous and divisive campaign?  How DARE the GOP try to use people's faith as a weapon to splitter our country!    Have they no decency?!

Great Ohio News & Take the poll

Sun Sep 12, 2004 at 10:01:26 AM PDT

The Columbus Dispatch conducts the most accurate polling in the state of Ohio.  This is undisputed even by the paper's rivals.

A new poll came out today.  Bush and Kerry are tied at 46% each.  (Nader pulled in 2%)

If Kerry wins Ohio, he wins the election.  No ifs, ands, or buts about it.
