San Diego Diocese want parishioners to bail them out! WTF!
Sun Oct 07, 2007 at 07:33:14 AM PDT
I am up early to take care of some gardening and thought I would look to see what our local fish wrap (The San Diego Union-Tribune) had to say this morning. To my amazement, the front page has the following - Priests asked to pay a share. However, as you link to the story it becomes more clear, the actual story headline is different, much different. Notice how the fish wrap cleverly leaves out the bit about the parishioners and only references the priests. So typical.
Not only is the San Diego Diocese asking the priests to pony up for the collective criminal behavior of the Church but they are brazenly asking the parishioners to bail them out as well! Unfricking believable. More below the fold....
Like Mitt's Mighty Minions, I fought the WoT from a Winnebago!
Fri Aug 24, 2007 at 09:37:02 AM PDT
Warning! Snark alert!
Yes Kossacks, I joined the ranks of Mitt's Mighty Minions and am fighting the WoT from behind the wheel of one of this countries greatest weapons - a 22' recreational vehicle. If Mitt's campaign on the WoT can wage such a historic and bloody fight in the heart of Iowa, how could I, in good conscience, sit at home and watch another episode of The Chickenhawk Brigade on MSM and not feel my manhood fall to the floor like a cheap toupée. The least I can do is dedicate the summer to waging our part of this WoT from behind the wheel of an RV.

Antiwar columnist buries GOP
Sat Sep 09, 2006 at 12:13:56 PM PDT
Libertarian columnist and Antiwar.com's editorial director Justin Raimondo puts spade to soil and buries the GOP! Dig a deep hole and fill the damn thing with wet cement I say. In a well written and timely
eulogy to the GOP Justin makes the case one would hope all individuals of libertarian bent would make after all that the faux Republican Party has done. You have no home in the GOP.

Hate Crimes in San Diego??? WTF!
Wed Aug 02, 2006 at 06:00:30 PM PDT
Pardon me if this has already been diaried but I do not think it has.
As a resident of San Diego I am personally outraged and stunned by this hate crime. What kind of CS coward would commit such an act? If these punks are guilty (we will let the courts decide) I hope they get the preverbial book thrown at them. Here is another link to another possible suspect.

Separation of Church and State: From whence we came
Sat Dec 24, 2005 at 08:12:33 AM PDT
With all the talk about religion in American politics, I felt compelled to look deeper into the subject - specifically, what did America's founders have to say and why is the "wall" so contentious today after nearly two and a half centuries?
In my search, I came across a great read (IMHO) - The Separation of Church and State: Writings on a Fundamental Freedom by America's Founders, by Forrest Church. The book spans a thirty year history, 1772 - 1802, and dramatically documents one of the profound debates in the Nations history - religion and the State. It takes you back in time and for a moment puts you in the heads of those at the very founding of our Nation. In fact, this easy and fascinating read will quickly illustrate why this book is important for everyone to read in today's political climate...no exceptions. Time for some homework!

My Best Friend is on Oxygen!
Fri Aug 19, 2005 at 05:22:30 PM PDT
Over the past 40 years, my best friend (call him G) and I have been through thick-and-thin together, broke bones together, drank beer together, raced cars together, broke hearts or had hearts broken together, and were just down right meant to hang out together as best friends do. However, politics had become like the Berlin Wall of our relationship...me on the liberal side and him on the conservative side. Rarely did we venture into one another's territory except for the occasional skirmish or to plant a few landmines.
