Purple Pink & Senator Bluster McWhite- McCain's Latest Attack on Obama

McCain: Obama Socialist? "I Don't Know"
From an Interview in the Kansas City Star & reported in today's Huffington Post comes this latest slander of Senator Obama, directly out of the mouth of the Maverick himself, John McCain. Apparently, all of Senator McCain's Surrogate Chimps are currently attending a Civil Rights March in Spain...

so the Senator again misspoke for himself.

If you're not too pissed and nauseated, please come back here and read my Diary, below.
Or read my Diary and then read the story. I don't care. Don't bother me.
And remember to complete the 1-question poll at the end of my Diary. We're trying to push the Official Terrorist List over the 2 Million mark.
McCain's principles a matter of expedience

By The Bard of Wilmette from Eyes on Obama:
Thomas Ridley has a good blog post today, referring to a Huffington Post article by Max Bergmann. I appreciate the referral. The article summarizes a handful of areas where some of Senator McCain's recent pronouncements have either been hypocritical, irresponsible, or just plain wrong.
Huffington Post, Obama, and pro-Christian bias (+ poll)
Fri Jul 11, 2008 at 08:04:45 AM PDT
I like The Huffington Post. I really do. They've got a lot of excellent writers and the comments are usually interesting. They do seem to have a wee bit of a problem with inconsistent rules, particularly in regard to personal attacks, but they moderate comments and it usually works well.
Generally, HuffPo is a liberal blog. They've got pro-Obama folks and pro-Clinton folks, not to mention occasional comments from the pro-Kucinich, pro-Paul, pro-Barr, and pro-Nader contingents. There are atheists and religious people there, too. Their writers include former evangelical Frank Schaeffer as well as current evangelist Jim Wallis. However, the bias of HuffPo towards religion is pronounced.
It's not the center; it's the change, stupid
Sat Jul 05, 2008 at 12:17:15 PM PDT
So many progressives, including friends of mine, have been so quick to jump off the Obama train, it's breathtaking. But they're missing the point.
What is happening? Now is Obama "caving" in to the evangelicals?
Wed Jul 02, 2008 at 06:18:50 PM PDT
Suddenly I am besieged with questions from family and friends. What is happening to Obama? Why is he doing this and that and that? Did I read the article in The Nation, Surveillance Protest Group Tops Obama Website . Then today's Huffington Post Obama's Faith-Based Plan by Jim Wallis. Well folks, I'm more than a bit confused. maybe you can help me understand? Look below and I'll explain myself and also tell you what I think is happening. Then I hope you will try to straighten me out.
Let's Get Our Facts Together and PUSH BACK!
Wed Jul 02, 2008 at 12:41:25 PM PDT
Have you seen the front page of HuffPo yet today? They point to a Media Matters article catching Faux "news" distorting the photographs of 2 NYT reporters, Jacques Steinberg and Steven Reddicliffe:
During a segment in which Fox & Friends co-hosts Steve Doocy and Brian Kilmeade labeled New York Times reporter Jacques Steinberg and editor Steven Reddicliffe "attack dogs," Fox News featured photos of Steinberg and Reddicliffe that appeared to have been digitally altered -- the journalists' teeth had been yellowed, their facial features exaggerated, and portions of Reddicliffe's hair moved further back on his head.
Now, we all know that Faux "news" is a propaganda outlet for the GOP; we all know that this is Standard Operating Procedure for any propaganda outlet. However, this does NOT mean that we are to ignore them for doing it! It's time to expose them for the Frauds they truly are.
I've had enough of their tactics, and I'm going to fight back from now on!
Obama raises more $ from military than McCain
Wed Jul 02, 2008 at 05:44:46 AM PDT
Nancy Benac on HuffPo has a terrific story that on reported donations over $200 from military personnel Obama outdoes McCain:
That Obama attracts support from some in the military is evident in dollars and cents: Among people who have donated at least $200 to a presidential campaign this election cycle, Obama has collected more than $327,000 from those identifying themselves as military personnel, while McCain has collected $224,000, according to an analysis of Federal Election Commission data by The Associated Press.
It's not all roses and sunshine as McCain will obviously garner military support. But the signs are there that is not going to be a cakewalk.

OR-5: Woman says pro-life candidate paid for her abortion
Tue Jun 24, 2008 at 07:57:16 AM PDT
From oregonlive.com we get this story about a woman claiming GOP candidate Mike Erickson paid for her abortion. Erickson faces state Sen. Kurt Schrader, D-Canby, Nov. 4th. This CD went 54-43% in 2006 but with an incumbent Dem, Darlene Hooley against Erickson (30K vote differential). Sure to be a story not only in Oregon:
An Oregon City woman who dated congressional candidate Mike Erickson seven years ago said she asked him directly whether he wanted to have a baby. He shook his head no, she said, and paid for her abortion.
McCain, Misogyny, and Webb (w/ hilarious new vid!)
Wed Jun 18, 2008 at 12:56:43 PM PDT
One of the major concerns about Jim Webb being VP is his 1979 Washingtonian Article "Why Women Can't Fight," his calling the Tailhook scandal "a witch hunt," and the fact that he's on his third wife. This is often thought to pose at least a perpection problem that could alienate Hillary supporters and other women. However, it seems that perhaps this record could be swamped by McCain's much worse record on treating women.
Not only do we have his smears of Chelsea, his abandonment of his first wife, his tacit approval of referring to Hillary as a b****, we have his inglorious moment of calling his wife a c***. This last moment is brilliantly and wickedly highlighted in a new satirical video: here.
(Don't forget to rate the vid if you like it!)

HuffPo: The Growing Olbermann Backlash?
Fri Jun 13, 2008 at 05:25:54 AM PDT
Danny Shea at HuffPo comments on the "growing backlash" against Keith Olberman for...wait for it...his comment on Katie freakin' Couric.
Now this is nuts. But my thoughts below the fold. Shea quotes Rachel Sklar, who should know better:
Huffington Post's Rachel Sklar writes:
I find it a bit rich that Keith Olbermann would chastise anyone on the subject of "separating the hype from the news" or "the nonsense that Senator Clinton was a victim of pronounced sexism." And yet he did just that last night in naming Katie Couric his "Worst Person in the World" for speaking out about the sexism evidenced in some of the media coverage of Hillary Clinton's presidential campaign.
Wes Clark Nails McCain on HuffPo
Wed Jun 11, 2008 at 09:22:01 AM PDT
I've long been a Clarkie, and now that Clark has strongly endorsed Obama after his initial support for Clinton, I continue to see him as a strong pick for VP, not just for his military credentials and foreign policy experience, but also because he's a strong progressive and an unabashed "liberal" Democrat.
This morning, he was interviewed on Huffington Post, and totally toook the battle to McCain on McCain's supposed strong suit, foreign policy and national security.
Read the whole article, on Huffington Post , but follow me below the fold for some great excerpts:
Pathetic ABBG* Tricks
Sun Jun 08, 2008 at 01:07:25 PM PDT
Hate the fact that a black guy got the Democratic nomination?
Start a Web site claiming to support McCain.
Can't get enough support for your racist message?
Just pretend otherwise.
Pathetic. Childish. A foreshadowing of the summer to come?
* ABBG = Anyone But a Black Guy.
HuffPo says Clinton will Endorse Obama Saturday
Wed Jun 04, 2008 at 06:33:03 PM PDT
I did a quick look and didn't find this posted. I'll delete if there's a previous diary.
According to the Huffington Post, Hillary Clinton To Suspend Campaign Saturday
Other sources say Friday, as HuffPo notes, but this may be the real word:
The Clinton campaign issued a statement at around 9pm saying they will be hosting an event to announce her support for Sen. Obama on Saturday, as opposed to Friday:
Senator Clinton will be hosting an event in Washington, DC to thank her supporters and express her support for Senator Obama and party unity. This event will be held on Saturday to accommodate more of Senator Clinton's supporters who want to attend.
McChange! Senator McCain Rips Off Obama's Logo and Slogan
Wed Jun 04, 2008 at 03:02:43 PM PDT
Hat tip to Sam Stein at the Huffington Post for catching this doozy. John McCain, like Hillary Clinton before her, has started blatantly stealing Obama's logo, his slogan, and his message. When "Experience" doesn't work, co-opt your rivals' more appealing message! John McCain has recently unveiled his new slogan (on a blindingly ugly green bilboard): A Leader We Can Believe In. Obviously, my first problem with this slogan is the grammatical error. It should be "A Leader In Which We Can Believe." NEVER end a sentence in a preposition! But I should let that alone, because "Change We Can Believe In" violates that same rule.... and I guess that's the point. They're the same slogan. McCain has also basically posted Obama's now infamous logo straight to his website.
18 million votes? Still?
Wed Jun 04, 2008 at 08:52:35 AM PDT
I was disappointed, but I can't say surprised, at Hillary Cinton's speech last night. Frankly, I didn't even see the point to it. It wasn't a victory speech. It wasn't a concession speech. So, what was it? A power play.
She once again claimed to be the superior candidate. She defied all the party leaders by not conceding. She didn't even acknowledge that Obama had crossed the delegate threshold for securing the nomination. Instead, she asked her supporters to write to her about what to do next and stated that she stands for the votes of 18 million people and she would make sure their voices were represented.
In other words, "I'm taking my 18 million votes and not letting them go until you give me what I want."
But here's what one of her more influential voters has to say about that
Instead she left her supporters empty, Obama's angry and party leaders trashing her. She said she was stepping back to think about her options. She is waiting to figure out how she would "use" her 18 million voters.
But not my vote. I will enthusiastically support Barack Obama's campaign. Because I am not a bargaining chip. I am a Democrat.
New McCain Aide: "President Has Near Dictatorial Powers" (Rec this)
Tue Jun 03, 2008 at 01:49:40 PM PDT
I'd like to say, first of all, it's been fun being here for the primary season. I think I made my account right around Super Tuesday, so my entire Daily Kos life has been through the eyes of an Obama partisan and someone who mistrusts Clinton. But now, I hope to see this all change. I hope to see people attack McCain (which is what will be forthcoming). I hope to see real policy discussions, real debates about real issues. No more anti-Clinton slime after tonight.
EDIT: Rec This Up! This is a big story, as per the comments. I COMMAND YOU! REC THIS! YOU HAVE NO CHOICE! CONGRESS CAN DO NOTHING!
Update 2:
During a fund-raiser in Denver, Obama — a former constitutional law professor at the University of Chicago Law School — was asked what he hoped to accomplish during his first 100 days in office.
"I would call my attorney general in and review every single executive order issued by George Bush and overturn those laws or executive decisions that I feel violate the constitution," said Obama.
