Energized and inspired by the spontaneous"faint in" held for the Very Special Guest (GORE!!1!ZOMG!11!!) at yesterday's "Ask The Speaker" session here at Netroots Nation, maurading liberals gathered together for a 9:00am service dedicated to the troops serving in Iraq and Afghanistan.  Commie pinko worship leaders, participants and organizers included:

Notorious radical, pastordan, does the terrorist fist bump with a fellow marauder.

True to our fearsome, maraudery reputation, we prayed for peace, for the troops and their families, and for the Iraqi people.  On display throughout the convention as part of the Netroots for the Troops project and present for the service was a series of panels assembled by Kossack artist, kainah, recording the history of casualties in the Iraq conflict.

Shipping and display of the memorial panels was paid for by a generous anonymous donor who is almost certainly a huge Noam Chomsky fan.

It was a very emotional service.  Proceeds of the offering went to Netroots For The Troops which, having happily exceeded it's fundraising goals, will be passing along all monies gathered above and beyond the need to the very worthy Books For Soldiers which is run by Kossack, StormBear

Now, without further ado, more pictures!

timroff and jnhobbs perform the lovely "When They Lay Me Down": music and lyrics by jnhobbs, vocals by timroff and jnhobbs.  Tim must have misplaced the sheet music to L'Internationale.  That's okay, though.  I hummed it under my breath.

Also not L'Internationale.

And still no L'Internationale.  I suppose we didn't want to "galvanize stereotype(s)".

They're very huggy for marauders.

Wish you all could have been there.  Next year in Pittsburgh!

Update from the airport:  I wanted to remember to give credit to Dania Audax for the wonderful picture of timroff and jnhobbs performing during the service.  I'll be back to add a link to more of Dania's pictures later unless she beats me to it and hops in with a link.

Late update: Link to Dania Audax' pictures!
