Yep, that could be the ticket against McCain and the Democrats would still win in a huge victory so long as the platform included the economy, linked the Iraq war to the faltering economy, and pounded those two factors all the way to election day.

The Republicans are in complete disarray, they have nothing to offer to the American people, and they have a huge albatross tied around their collective necks called "Bush/Cheney".

Childers proved that point last night.

And everybody who ran for president in the Democratic primaries, at the very least, suspected that point.

So this explains one reason why Hillary Clinton continues to compete. She's betting that even if there is a contentious convention in August and she comes out of it with the nomination, she'll still win because the die is already cast. The American people have had it with the Republican party and a Democrat will be sworn in as president come January 20, 2009. That makes 2008 her last best hope of being president, because no matter who is the nominee there is no way possible that that nominee will lose in November.

Beyond that, she's also playing for the Veep spot, and quite frankly she has proven that the support she brings to the table at the very least deserves serious consideration to that possibility. Obama would have to be extrememely cautious here because to publicly put out the question would be devestating if she chose to not take the spot. Nobody want's the be somebody's second choice.

Finally, the last reason she almost has no choice but to stay in is because as the first woman to have serious contention for the big chair she has to prove she can go the distance. This isn't for Hillary Clinton. This is for the future of woman candidates.

So please, fellow Obama supporters, understand that there are many reasons for Hillary Clinton staying in the race. It isn't all about Hillary, though there has to be some of that because it takes ego to drive somebody to seek the big chair, but the issue runs much deeper than personal ambitions.
